Jo Birch

Jo is a highly experienced Dental Hygienist and qualified Myofunctional Therapist with over 30years in the dental industry. A graduate of the University of Otago and Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand (1998–1999), she helps patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health through prevention, education, and individualised care.

Jo has worked in NewZealand, Australia, London, and the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, gaining international experience across specialist orthodontic, periodontal, and general dental practices. She has cared for patients of all ages and with a wide range of oral health needs.

Her professional interests include preventive dentistry, children’s oral health, periodontal care, and the relationship between oral function, breathing, airway health, and overall wellbeing. She takes a holistic approach to supporting long-term oral health.

Jo combines strong clinical expertise with a warm, friendly, and down-to-earth approach. She is committed to helping people feel comfortable, supported, and confident at every stage of their oral health journey, taking the time to listen and tailor care to each patient’s needs.

Outside dentistry, Jo is also studying to become a registered Marriage Celebrant and is based on the beautiful Magnetic Island in North Queensland, specialising in intimate micro-weddings and elopements. She is passionate about creating meaningful ceremonies for couples on Magnetic Island and beyond.
