Medical and Dental History

It is important for you to disclose information about your health to the dental team. We will ask you for details about your current and past state of health, current and previous medications, previous operations and dental treatments.

We offer the ability to download and pre-fill our Medical and Dental History form. Please visit here to download our form.

Some medications can interact with some of the anaesthetics and other medications that are used in dentistry. Medications can cause severe dry mouth, or make gums puffy and swollen. Blood-thinning medications can cause excessive bleeding during surgery and extractions and some medications used to treat osteoporosis can cause problems with healing after extractions.
If your medications are likely to be contributing to dental disease, or dental treatments are likely to interact badly with your medications, we need to know!

Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can unfortunately still happen to anyone. If you have suffered a trauma and have avulsed (knocked out) a tooth or fractured it, or have a tooth ache or lost filling, our dentists at North Queensland Family Dental will endeavour to see you before the day’s end.

Please phone us on (07) 4755 2055 for an appointment.

If your dental emergency happens to be on a weekend or public holiday, the Townsville Australian Dental Association has arranged a roster system for local dentists, including those from our practice, to be on call. The on call dentist can be reached on 0412 192 299.
